Diving in the Waters near the Province of Leyte 0
It’s easy to admit that the waters surrounding the Philippine islands are gracefully filled with an abundance of marine life. Seeing these gifts from nature should not be missed. The tropical climate of the Philippines is probably one reason why many fishes thrive in its waters. So from my last vacation, my friends arranged a yacht trip to Southern Leyte in order to swim and enjoy the waters.
The entire activity took an entire day so in order to catch up the sun, we left Cebu before the sun rose and headed straight to Southern Leyte. I was still feeling sleepy in the travel to our spot, so I wrapped myself with a blanket and fell asleep. Next thing I knew was that my friend woke me up and told me that we should get ready. The sun was starting to rise and the first thing we did was to eat breakfast.
Breakfast should take some time to set in before diving because a full stomach can give cramps when affected by the pressure of the water. Yummy! The food was so delightful. Purely made by Filipino hands, and they were still hot. I was particularly delighted by the seafood soup. Just an ordinary dish with an extraordinary taste, it had slices of fish, clams and shrimps made with an I-don’t-know process. But the food was surely delicious. Thumbs Up!
Later on, we prepared our apparatuses, warmed up, and just on our suits. One by one, our tanks and our back fell into the waters and we were already swimming. The water was cool, and the sea floor was full of life, I dived deeper to get a closer look. There were a lot of sea anemones, and clown fishes are swimming on its tentacle. The nearby stones were also home for colorful nudibranches arising from colors like blue, green and even yellow orange. Drifting into the corals, I saw a long thin fish, and then I knew it was a barracuda. Good thing it just passed by as barracudas have a reputation of being aggressive towards swimmers.
More to discovering the corals, I felt someone knock on my tank, I looked up there is this huge shadow of a fish. I swam closer and identified it already, it was a whale shark. We were so lucky that we were able to see one in just one day. I swam beneath it, above and beside it was just a marvelous fish. It may be attached to the name of the ‘sharks but this creature is too gentle, and more similar to the whales only that, it is a fish, not a mammal. I took the last set of pictures and immediately resurfaced because the tank levels are getting low. I climbed back up the yacht seeing all our faces joyful with what we saw.
