Danish Lagoon, Siquijor 0
In the recent years, the island of Siquijor is rumored to be an island of “sorcerers”. Word has it that a lot of people living in this island are mangkukulam, translates as “witches”. They curse people who offend their territory like having the cockroaches crawl from your throat. However, that is just rumors.
I went to Siquijor during the holiday season last year and the people disproved the allegations to them. They were kind, hospitable and accommodating. I thought “why would people rely on rumor when Siquijor is nothing but a paradise”. Indeed, the place was such an enticing destination. White sandy beaches as usual like most other beach resorts in the Philippines.

Coming to Siquijor was just a few hours of a sea trip from Cebu. I was with a group of eight people who are significant to my life in the past few years. They are not my families or relatives, but they are my closest friends. We availed a Siquijor island tour package, and our accommodation was set to a new resort called “The Danish Lagoon”.
We arrived at the resort on a sunny afternoon and indeed, the resort sits atop a lagoon facing the ocean. The weather may be sunny but the strong blowing wind cools off the skin. Unlike most hotels, the cottages looked like “treasuries” from a strategy game I used to play. They were fleshy in color but uniquely designed. There is a region in the lagoon that separates it from the water, although it was a relatively small beach, but it showed what a white sandy beach should look like.
Close to the beach are crystal clear waters which enthrall people watching it to come and have a dip. I was particularly exhausted from the trip, so I went back to our room and fell asleep. I woke up at around 5:45 and went out of the cottage. WOW! I was so amazed by the sunset. It was overlooking to the entire resort and melded with the skies in a vibrant dark blue to orange color. I noticed that my friends were talking in front of a camp fire, so I joined the group still stunned by what I saw.
